Here's the (entire!) contents of the thread that link points to, so you don't have to visit the website:
"There are numerous ways you can connect your xbox to your home network. First would be the obvious of running a straight through cable from your router/switch to the box. If your xbox is far away from your router but near a wirelessly connected pc you can run a crossover cable from the pc to xbox to connect. Procedure: Settings for your Pc cards nic Ip address statically assigned. Use the same network address as your network is. example 192.168.1 is the network address with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. In this case use an ip like 192.168.1.120 with subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway is the ip of your router for instance 192.168.1.1. On the xbox configure it to 192.168.1.121 subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway is the ip of your computer aka 192.168.1.120. Set dns server to point to your router, or the address your isp gave you.
Another option is to get a wireless bridge for your xbox which can be had for ~50 on ebay."
