I am looking at the moment to wirelessly connect to the internet on my windows computer, using a router and a PCI wireless adapter. If i were to then buy an Apple iBook powered with airport extreme, could i connect to the internet using this same router?or are there only certain ones that would work with both pc and macs? please help im not too good with networking!

Your Mac will work fine with the network that you described. In order to have your PC and Mac talk you will need to install the AppleTalk network protocol on your PC.
