Comment:
hi,
I have a sppedtouch 585iv6 wireless router and a Linksys Wireless notebook adapter wpc54gv3 , when setting up the adapter it asks for the following
IP SUBNET DEFAULT GATEWAY DNS1 DNS2
Is that for the adapter , my desktop pc or the router , and how do i go about getting this info.
I am connected on my desktop , but my laptop cannot connect. Any Ideas?

First, connect the laptop or any other PC to the router w/ a cat5 cable and open the web interface of the router in the browser. Uusally linksys is http://182.168.0.1 Set the NIC for the LAN to obtain IP automatically. Configure the router to connect to the net. Then you can setup the wireless section. Follow the router instructions.

Are your drivers installed? (these come on the cd that accompanied your adapter) if so... there should be a wizard included on that cd to make setup easier. other wise...
Both your Ip and DNS server should be automatically obtained.(this can be found under TCP/IP properties in network connections)
after having done this you should be able to search and view available wireless networks and connect to them.
Most LANs by default have an address of 192.168.1.1 <--this can also be typed into your web browser to view/modify your router's configuration
