i implemented a wireless network with a dlink router, that is only going to route wireless for one workstation in a network, that has a domain. So far the wireless workstation has connectivity with the router, the router has connectivity with the hardwired Lan, Internet is working, the wireless point is secured with encryption. The workstation is able to join the local domain.
The problem is the whole reason for doing this is a plotting printer device is attached to the workstation and remote users in the domain need access to be able to print to it. I have the device shared within the network. If i go to browse the domain, i cant see the workstation within the domain, and i figure that is because the wireless router is segmenting the network, and netbios, or netbeui cant broadcast acrosss those segments?Although, i cant see if if i browse, and do a find now it finds the device, but returns an error, that it has lost its connection to the server or does not exist. Why would it return in a search if it has no connectivity or not exist? The network platform is Server 2000, are there options on the server i am not seeing i have checked all options on the workstation which is 2k as well. I am stumped how it can be found with in its search when trying to add a printer, yet not allow connectivity to it... please email me at urchek@yahoo.com if you have any answers, reply to this post please thank you
Cheers--

If the wireless equipment is on the same subnet, it's not segmented. More than likely the wireless router you bought still has the firewall enabled and is blocking incoming traffic. Try disabling the firewall and see if you can't find the device then.
