I have a Linksys WAP 51 A+B Wireless Access Point which is being connected to from a Linksys A+G Dual Band Wireless Access Card. Whenever, I setup a WEP key, it is causing me lots of difficulty. Without the WEP key, I can easily connect onto my network and onto the internet, on both the A (5 GHZ, 54 MBPS) or the B (2.4 GHZ, 11 MBPS), but when WEP is on, that is when I run into problems. I have tried changing the Wireless Domain Name, the WEP Key and the Frequencies however I have had no luck with it. I have tried long and short names and passcodes, but to no avail. Basically, Windows XP gets caught in a loop saying it has detected one or more Wireless Connections and wants me to choose which one I want. I choose one but it doesn't connect, it just stays at that window.
Is this something to do with the Linksys side or the Windows side, because I am getting very frustrated with the whole situation. Would setting up MAC Filters work, or will that just cause me more problems? I am in an area where there are several wireless B connections, so it is important to me that I have some sort of protection enabled.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated...

Let me add to the fact, that it doesn't matter what level of WEP encryption I use, it doesn't work in general.

when you get to the screen that says view available wireless networks hit the advanced button. you'll come to another screen that will list your prefered and available wireless networks. REMOVE all you're prefered wireless networks, select your SSID in the available section then click configure. Check the box that says "Data Encryption (WEP enabled)" and uncheck the box at the bottom that says "this key is provided to me automatically". Then enter in your pre-determined WEP key in the space provided you'll have to do it twice.

I have done that but to no avail. Sometimes when I type in the password it works, sometimes it doesn't. Does it matter if I keep it saved there?
