Hi, I have a cable connection, that is plugged into my Wireless router, a SMC 2652W. The problem is that the connection keeps getting lost. Either disabling the connection from within XP and then enabling gets it going again, or, in case that fails, restarting the WAP usually will. Is there anyone who has heard of similar problems and found a solution? It's driving me nuts to keep having to plug the damn thing in and out ;)

Hello
Yeah i had a similar problem with my access point and my XP laptop. For some reason the laptop would stop connecting to the network, all the encryption settings would be lost etc. The way i could fix it was as you said re-doing all encryption settings. The laptop seems to be alright lately the only reason i think it keeps resetting the settings is because it loses its signal for a long period of time (when its used away from the access point) Maybe its an XP bug, but it got me stressed out plenty of times trying to sort it!

I don't use any drivers at all, just a simple USB wireless adapter (Linksys) and the default settings. When I check the connection itself in WinXP, it shows signal strength is excellent. The WAP itseld show the connection ist there, it's simply not transmitting.
