Comment:

I have recently purchased a new computer and would like to wirelessly network to the old one (XP pro, 450Mhz, 128 ram. The location of the new computer(uncomprimisable) is distanced from phonelines for internet connections. The purpose of the wireless conection is to share a few files sometimes, share dial up internet and maybe play a few games.

I have purchased 2 AirPlusG DWL G520 wireless PCi adapters (54MBPS). I have installed both the cards and have ran the windows network setup. the workgroup is MSHOME, and the pc names are JDPC(new) MYCOMPUTER(old). When JDPC is turned on it automatically trys to access the internet(undesired but not critical). This means that the internet part is working but when I try to use the internet from JDPC it doesn't actually work (eg pages don't load). Another problem with the network is I don't have access to any shared files, some files are shared but I can't access them, (its like the computers dont acknowledge eachothers existance) when I click on add a network place, and go down to workgroups both computers claim I do not have priviledges to access the workgroups.

can someone please help me.

I had a look there but did not find much useful information. Here is some more useful information that might help someone to help me fix my problem.

The 2 cards are set to ad-hoc mode(peer to peer, no need for a router)They both have a SSID of "default" and are configured to channel 6. The computers constantly access the network and then disconnect if not started synchronosly.
