I have a few questions reguarding WISPs. I recently bought a laptop for my business. This is the first laptop I have ever owned, but I am no means computer illiterate. I do a lot of traveling by train. Maybe 2-4 times a week. They are long train rides (4-8 hours) and often get boring. Is there any service that will let me connect to the internet wirelessly while I am on the train? If not, what is the best way to connect to the internet while I am on the train. I heard connecting VIA a cell phone is REALLY slow. Is there any truth to that? Any feedback is accepted.

you'll have to check for WISP service in your area. That will be the best resource, especially since you didn't specify 'where' you live or your typcial commute via train
Using a cell phone, well you're pretty much limited by the data rate, which will be similar to a 56K modem, but I don't have exact data rates that Celluar providers have. Check with your cell phone
You will need to add this service from your current provider, as they most likely charge for data connections.

Trains have two problems. The metal will block all but the strongest signals. And it moves fast enough that you would have trouble staying in range of celluar or wi-fi transmitters. You would be limited to short connections.
For Internet connections, the train would have to have a receiver/transmitter and a local DHCP network you could plug into, for a fee. Such a moble and shared access would still be slow. Maybe you should suggest it to them......
