Now, this is my first time on this website, and i don't know much about pcs. So, if i haven't specified any info enough, please let me know. Here's my problem: Our main pc we used to connect our wireless router(Netgear) is a gateway that uses windows vista. We have another pc that my dad uses, and my laptop, that connect through wireless. Whats weird is, my dad's pc and my laptop can connect to the internet just fine. But our main pc cannot connect. And when I ask for it to diagnose the problem it says there isn't any problem. I've tried disconnecting the wireless and just using the modem. But no matter which of the ethernet cables i use(i have two), the ethernet light doesn't show up. Though it will show up for the wireless. I am very confused....

:-) obviously the modem is working or there would be no internet to anyone. Sounds like a failed nic or wrong cables. Use this same cables between the modem and router. Does everything still work? If so then the cables are good but its your nic that is bad. Has it ever worked? Example of Oxymoron: Person who is pro life and anti sex education. Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion. Abstinence training clearly isn't working.

well, due to some testing, only one cable works on the wireless router.
