Lately when I play my chat and java games online I get a 1 mbps speed on the wireless internet which causes games to freeze. I have not had this problem before and was wondering if it is a virus of some kind or just the downfall of wireless internet. It fluctuates from 56 mbps down to 1 mbps which freezes my games and makes browsing slow. Any suggestions? It's only been doing this for about a week.

Wireless is not the best thing to use for gaming. Because of the nature of wireless it tends to do things like you describe above.
Some friends and I own our own online gaming server and one of them used to use wireless at home. His game would freeze up for a few seconds during game play and was often very laggy and would get jerky during play (when not freezing up completely).
He know's I'm a network technician by trade and asked me what the problem might be. I asked him a few question, discovered he was using wireless at home. I suggested he plug into his router directly (hard wired connection) and try it out. He did so and voila! his game now runs perfectly (much to my chagrin because now he kicks my butt all the time......LOL)
I highly recommend you try a hardwired connection and see if that doesn't fix the problem.

Try reseting the router, or check if it is overheating in any way. If that doesn't work put the router in a open area (very close to your card) and try that. If it still has problems then maybe you have a hardware issue.
