I have been having trouble for some time now and this is basically my last resort. I have checked out some of the other related posts on here, but I have not found the answer to my problem. I am in desperate need of someone’s help!!
I am running a wireless network, which consists of 3 Windows 2000-based machines and 1 Windows 98 machine. All machines have static IP addresses and are connected to the Internet through a gateway machine (Win2K). 3 of the Win2K machines can see each other on the network, the Windows 98 machine comes and goes... The gateway machine has a modem installed, and its local IP address is set to 192.168.0.1, while the modem is set to automatically receive an address. Internet connection sharing has been established through the use of Sygate home network. Network protocols being used are netBEUI, and TCP/IP.
When a machine on the network tries to access the Internet, it contacts the gateway machine and it then dials and connects to the Internet. From the gateway machine one can connect and 'surf' the net with no issues. However when you go to one of the networked machines you might be able to connect to the Internet, but most of the time you are given the standard IE message that the page could not be found or there was a DNS problem (I do realize that it can take DUN some time to connect). I have tried using the Windows Internet Connection Sharing and have found it to be problematic. To sum up, the Network works (most of the time) but the Internet connection sharing is very fickle, sometimes it works fine and then other times you cannot connect via the networked computers. I am not running firewall or other security programs.
Does anyone know how I can solve the ICS problem and stabilize the general network connections???I have also run fresh installs on all machines complete with the latest service packs. I have double-checked all my addresses, comp names, network ids, passwords, etc. I have also gone to http://www.helmig.com and www.wown.com for further info, but to no avail.
IP addresses on client machines are static and follow 192.168.0.XXX style, DNS is statically set, and it is correct. Gateway address is that of the host machine 192.168.0.1, and clients are set to "Automatically detect proxy". Microsoft’s ICS has also been disabled to only use Sygate.

I don't know anything about Sygate but if you get the DNS error then you need to make sure that all of you internet connections have static dns addresses
