I currently have a Server Running Win 2000. I also have 5 other PCs that are Networked together by CAT 5. I want to go wireless. Can I buy one wireles hub and host the rest of my PCs?

Depends on how far apart the computers are, but yes, rather easily.

I have a Lynksys router/Wireless Access Point in my living room, and although my house is one story and not very large, it supports the PC in the living room, in the bedroom, and both of our laptops without a problem.

Worst case scenario is you might have to buy a second wireless access point to extend the network's reach if you have poor reception in certain areas.

All you need is to have is the WAP, and the wireless LAN cards on each PC.

Configuring the IP's and all that jazz isn't much different than on a hard-wired LAN

Thanks for the info Dave C. Why does the WAP have 4 ports in it, if it will support many wireless connections? Is this just in case you hard wire it?

Exactly...I am using a Lynksys WAP/router as well, which includes 4 ports for wired connections. Two machines are using ethernet ports on the WAP/router, and three laptops are using the wireless connection. My house is rather large (3500 sq ft). The WAP is in the corner of my house on the second floor. Connections are very stable with the wireless machines downstairs, however when I venture back upstairs to our bonus room at the other end of the house, the signal is significantly weaker. However I am very satisfied with the network overall.

I got a question about wireless network:
I want to install a cable modem in my house, but, the cable company said i need to set up a wireless network to make it work, ( long story). he said I needed a wireless router, and a wireless PCI card to install into the computer.

Are some brands more reliable than others? I read a review on CNET.com, and they said NetGear was good, aLinksys was okay,

I've seen Belkin on sale, Linksys, some company called Air Plus? Siemens? Microsoft? They are all 802.11b, is there a preferred company or do i just buy the cheapest company that is on sale>

I use Linksys router and wireless NIC's. When I am staying put and feel like being hard-wired, I use my Netgear LAN card for my laptop.

A friend of mine who's writing a book on wireless home networking recommends the Orinoco Gold wireless PC card (made by Lucent Technologies). It costs a little more ($75) but is supposed to have better range, etc. I'm happy with mine.
