I have a laptop which is using a wireless connection to my router. So everything was working fine up until a week ago, the internet just stopped working. It still receives a wireless connection and on the status it shows that it's connected and the signal strength shows Very Good, but it doesn't receive any internet connection nor does it show up in my workgroup network.

I tried doing ipconfig /release /renew but stil doesn't work. I also did the loopback ping thing and pinged 127.0.0.1 and it worked fine so I know that there's nothing wrong with the Wireless card itself. I also tried out the card on another computer and it worked fine.

Also when I go to ipconfig /all it shows that NetBIOS over TCP/IP: Disabled, so could that be the problem? If so how can I go about enabling that?

I'm not sure how the problem occured, it just happened when the plug came out accidentally and it shut off, then it just stopped working after that.

Also I have another PC which is also using a wireless connection and it has the same problem. Both computers are in the same room and have the same surge protector so both shut off and came back with this problem.

But I'm sure it's not a problem with my router or anything because I tried it out on another PC and it worked fine and also works fine on my PSP.

Also when I go to Network Connections and try to Repair the wireless connection it shows and error and says something along the lines of:

Cannot purge or reload something over NetBT.
Failed to something WINS.

Sorry don't know exactly what it said but something like that.

Can anyone help please?

I would power off the router for a minute or so and power it back on. Give a minute for it to boot up. Then do a refresh on the wireless network list before rejoining.

Well it's not a problem with the router because wireless internet works on my PSP and on another PC as well. And I've already tried resetting the router and resetting the wireless network from the router control panel, but still doesn't work.

But it's weird because it receives the wireless signal, but doesn't connect to the internet and doesn't connect to the workgroup.

Something is wrong with the settings I'd assume, like when I go to repair connection it shows that error about NetBT and WINS.

I would check internet connection settings. Tools, Internet Options, and ensure 'never dial a connection' is set and that you do not have Proxy Server ticked in LAN Settings.
