hey all, i have a xbox 360 that i would like to connect to my wireless home network. the problem is that the wireless gaming adapter is about $100. i have an extra DI-524 wireless router and i was wondering if i would be able to reverse it so to speak... is there a way to make the router allow ethernet devices to connect to an already existent wireless network? Can i make the D-Link router accept a wireless signal instead of broadcast one?

Some wireless routers have two different modes. One mode is access point(extended signal) and the other is bridge(gateway). In order for an XBOX to connect to either, you still have to buy some sort of adapter in order for connection to be established, unless the XBOX magically does that on its own without any adapters.

I have a Linksys wireless access point with Wi-Fi and 4 Ethernet ports. I can use bolth wireless and wired connections. My PlayStation 3 is also able to alternate between wireless and wired connections. You should be able to connect the Xbox to the router via Ethernet. (Microsoft did the market research when they were designing the Xbox 360, and determined that a majority of the target audence for Xbox Live who have high speed Internet also have Wi-Fi, and decided to add on wi-fi as a $100 accessory insted of putting wi-fi built in like Sony and Nintendo did)
