Wireless detector suddenly can't see network

Specs: Windows Vista
My laptop has been connected to my home network via a Linksys wireless router for about 18 months now. All of a sudden, it no longer can "see" my home network.

The wireless detector is working, because I can see other wireless networks (my neighbors'). The router is broadcasting because my husband's laptop and wireless Internet phone can detect it.

I restarted my router and computer. I restarted the router, cable/Internet box, and computer. I contacted HP, who told me to uninstall the wireless driver and reinstall. I did. Still no change.

The only software-type change made recently was I downloaded Windows updates and IE 8. It was after those downloads that the troubles started.

Now HP wants me to replace my wireless card. Seems odd, especially considering it can "see" other networks. Help?

I would suspect either a software firewall is preventing connection or the encryption wireless key needs to be re-entered on your wireless connection properties.

I wouldn't believe the hp support
