I'm currently having a problem with my wireless internet connection. My laptop is picking up the signal perfectly well, however when I click onto any programs which require internet access it behaves as if I'm not connected to the internet, coming up with blank pages and alert boxes saying, 'Internet Explorer could not open the search page'. Yet my laptop assures me the signal is either very good to excellent.
I'm not very good with computers I'm afraid. Can anyone offer any help please?

Sounds like you might have a network problem.
Do this:
1.) Left click START 2.) Left click RUN 3.) type in "cmd" (no parenthesis) 4.) Left click OK 5.) at command prompt type "ipconfig /all" (no parenthesis)
If you get something like 169.x.y.z for and IP address then you have a network problem.
Post what you see.

Has it worked before? If so, what was done to the computer right before it happened?
Sometimes spyware can cause that also. Might need to scan with Adaware, or Spybot.

Just because your wireless NIC detects the network does not mean it is connected to it. You may need to configure log-in / security settings in order to get a connection.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
