I have a small home cabled network. I have another PC that I would like to add to the network, but I would prefer not to run a cable to it. I would like to add wireless card to it and to one of the PCs on the cable network. Is it possible to configure the networking so that the wireless and cable networks are joined? I don't need instructions on how to do it, at this time. I just would like to know if it will work or not. Thanks!

yes
the wired net should plug into WAP (wireless access point) from there xmitted to your 802.11b pc card

Thanks for the reply Justin.
So I guess that means I need only one Wireless Card for the remote PC and one of those 'Wireless Access Points' to attach to the local hub.
Do I have that right?

you can do it that way for the WAP or you can get an integrated WAP/router/hub
The cost is roughly the same, only you get more out of the WAP router.
As for the card, yes..Do your homework on these because, some work better than most as far as distance and connection rate.
FYI I have a Linksys WAP router/switch. the connection distance is underpar, IMHO, @ 15-20 feet if that. Could be where I have the WAP or could be that it's just weak..

i live in college dorm
room mate has windows xp
he is connected two the school(internet access) by wireless lan
i have windows 98
i am trying to figure out how to set up an indorm fully functional lan(network games, file and print sharing)
i am also trying to gain internet through his access
we have setup either of the two, but not both
we both have NICs, and he has the wireless
