Is there any way to tell if my laptop is being used as a wireless repeater?

When I do a 'wireless network search' to find networks within my area, I find a connection called 'linksys.' My wireless card is a linksys. (I have more than 1 comp connected to computer, 2 max at any given time, usually just a laptop and a desktop)

Main router is password protected, and shows up when you do a 'wireless network search,' with the little lock icon.

Is it possible to be able to connect to a laptop/desktop wireless CARD, to use their signal for the internet?

I'm able to connect to linksys, but it is very slow. I dunno, I think it's frustration that has made me suspicious of leechers.

My internet has been randomly bogging down, even when 1 desktop is wirelessly connected to the router (MY router, not the linksys signal), which is about 10 feet away.

Thanks, all.

Yep.. You can but this labtop/desktop must have 2 network connection, one of them is wireless connection.

You need to enable Internet Connection sharing on this labtop/desktop, check out this Internet Connection Sharing tutorial on how to do it. Just remember the connection to other computers are ad-hoc wireless connection.

Hope helps..

Here's hoping the guys on that site are better at networking than writing 'sentences'.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.
