Comment: I'm trying to connect my PC to a cable modem (COX Cable) The PC sits too far from the connection point to connect them with USB or Ethernet, and installing a new connection point to cable is NOT an option. After reading about modems, routers, gateways et al, I'm very confused. I only need to use the one desktop with the cable connection, and I already have the high-speed service, and a "standard" cable modem, which I can connect to the access point, but not the PC. Any suggestions?

Reply: (edit)Replace whatever that "Access point" is with a wireless access point (Wireless router) and get a wireless adapter for the PC in question. (Unless I misunderstood what you have or are trying to do) Bryan

Reply: (edit)Thanks...I *think* we're on the same page...the "access point" i'm referring to is a cable modem...which is too far from the PC. So I'm getting a Linksys wireless router to connect to the modem, and a USB adapter to connect to the PC (and communicate with the router.) Am I on the right track?
