OS: Windows XP Home
CPU/Ram: 2.4 Ghz Lots of RAM
Comment:

Conexant Modem configured to BT broadband
Trust Wireless Access Point/Router configured

One Win XP Pro machine works
One Win XP Home Laptop with Sitecom Wireless card -

Problem is that without the modem connected the network stays on constantly - i.e. always a conection
When modem is connected up, then the connection is frequently lost every 30 secs, min.

Help greatly appreciated

Marc

my suggestion is to learn how to setup wep or some sort of security.. that's the biggest problem with wirless networks.

If you have a linksys router go to their website and grab info and play; try stuff out!

or go onto google and type in wirless network setup?? something like that.

DSL has preconfigured amounts of time that will disconnect it if there are periods of no activity. This is because with DSL, the more traffic in your neighborhood, the slower everyones connection speed will be.

Log into your router and check your settings, I think what you want is the "always" on mode, not the "connect on demand".

Hopefully this will solve your problem.

we have since discovered (we think) that the connection is only lost when the laptop attempts to download something, in which the connection is lost frequently.
and when the pc downloads the connection is also lost, but less frequently,

any ideas? many thanks,

marc
