hi, i need some advice here.

i have a WRT54G router, operating in gateway mode. i have 2 wired computers, and 3 wireless ones linking to it, and the router is attached to my cable modem.

i have a second router, a BEFW11S4 v2. i want it to be able to use it's wireless link instead of the way port to allow computers attached to it to access the internet and my lan. i think this is called bridging.

ive managed to get a few things, but they arent what i want. if i connect a cable from BEFW's wan port to one of the computer ports on WRT, computers connected both wired and wirelessly to BEFW get internet access, but no lan, and the router isnt connected to the other router wirelessly.

ive also gotten results when i link one of BEFW's computer ports to WRT's computer ports. this way, i get lan, but no internet, and theres still a cable running between routers.

how do i make it so BEFW routes all it's signals into antenna to WRT for it's internet and lan access instead of trying to use it's wan port?

thanks,
Dave

Wireless hardware can only connect to one piece of wireless hardware at a time. That means if you make both routers connect wirelessly to each other, then nothing else will connect wirelessly to them. You would have to hook up the computers to the routers' ports. The routers will either connect to each other, or allow the computers to connect wirelessly to them, but not both at the same time. You need to find another way for what you want to do.

ok, that makes sense

so how to i go about making a linksys router connect wirelessly to another router? i never saw any options relating to an access point mode or anything.

every time ive tried, the only way to get internet access through the router is the connect a cable to its WAN port. the only thing ive been able to do wirelessly is connect other computers. i cant find any options that say 'use wireless for WAN' or anything

I don't know if this will help ya much but i was looking up some stuff on the linksys website and I came across a bunch of stuff to do with wireless gateways. your right it calling it a gateway that is what your trying to do , but I am not sure if 2 normale linksys routers and connect and be a gateway. I think linksys sell specail linksys wireless gateways.

Also if you connect your 2 linksys routers together wirelessly then your other wireless devices wont beable to connect to them I don't think like Mike was saying..
