Never used wireless before. Can't connect at hot spots. Do I need a card of some type? I click on my wireless connection, it brings up several connections, when I click on them and try to connect to AOL, nothing happens. Signing onto AOL and it just says "looking for TCP/IP connection" and just sits there. Please help.

I don't believe starbucks offers free wireless access anymore. When you view available wireless networks, connect to the starbucks connection and then open your internet browser. It will probably load a connection page for starbucks where you logon and possibly have to pay to use the network.

If this isn't the case, AOL will have to be configured to connect. It's been awhile but I believe on Aol's logon screen you can select expert setup and then create a new location and connection using the wireless interface or just use Internet Explorer and connect to Aol's webpage(http://www.aol.com) without using the AOL software.

Yes they offer it, didn't know if it was still free or pay based. Most of them used to be free but now alot of them you need an account to access. In this case it would be TMobile you have an account with or use a credit card to gain access to the hotspot for a limited period or more.

You're right. I did some digup and discovered from this source that to connect to Starbucks wifi (it's not a free for all hotspot like the municipal wifi hotspots), customers need to have T-Mobile HotSpot account. If you don't have it, you need to sign up with (I believe) your credit card.

Actually your issue might be the aol connection. I haven't looked at aol in a while but it (the aol software) used to bork a normal isp connection. You may still be able to connect as a common non-aol user can still. Depending on your system it might be set to allow windows to connect or a different type of wireless application (such as atheros).

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.
