Well with wireless. Interference plays a big roll. Interference slows down your connection speed. As a rule of thumb that I use with wireless is. The faster...the better.
Wireless G 54mbs or Fast wireless G 108mbs would be what I would go with.
54mbs being the lowest.
Hope this helps.

Think about it.
If you have a 1megabit per second [and adsl for home is usually slower then that] up/download speed and you are running at 11mbps wirelessly [which is lower then 54 or 108] you are STILL 11 TIMES FASTER THEN YOUR ADSL CONNECTION.

If you have 11mbps wireless (802.11b), your actual bandwidth is only 5.5mbps, because for every data packet sent, an acknowledgement packet is sent to ensure delivery. All wireless standards currently available do this, so you are really only getting half the advertised bandwidth. An 11mbps will do for internet, but if you move lots of files between computers in your house, I would highly suggest you splurge and get faster. Who knows, maybe one day you'll have a 20mbps internet connection and your network still wont need to be updated?
