Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to use a wireless internet adapeter with an existing router which is wire based? I'm willing to spend on hardware so please let me know if there is any which will do the trick. Thanks

Not possible. wireless needs to transmitt a signal through antennas on a certain frequency. This is why they have wireless routers O.o

You would need to get a wireless AP (Access Point) which then could be hooked to a wired router.

We have three running with 85 wired computers and 6 wireless users hooked into to wireless APs.
