I have a desktop system connected to a Netgear router and a Netgear wireless card on my laptop through which I access the internet. Fairly recently I received (as a gift) a multifunction printer (scanner/printer/copier/fax/pcfax) that connects through USB. It has ethernet, but not wireless. I cannot connect this machine to the desktop/router because of space restrictions. Is there a way, short of buying a very expensive wireless print server, to have access to and use of the printer through wireless and if so, what do I need/how do I set up/configure? Thanks!

Firstly the Scanner Function is not networkable without 3rd Party Software:

You could try an Ethernet to Wireless Bridge:

Thanks! I'll look into the wireless bridge. I'm the only person who uses the scanner and will be in the same room with the scanner when I'm using it so I can attach that to my laptop easily enough that I think I'll be okay for that right now. Thanks for the information regarding the software, though. I've bookmarked the site for future reference.

The problem arises when I'm working on the laptop from another part of the house and need to print and its a pain to have to always physically pick up the laptop, leave what I'm doing and move it to the room where the printer is to plug it in. My next printer will have wireless built into it for sure!
