hi i have a question im pretty good with computers and, im currently out of internet. but my friend down the block puts his router in the window so i can grab a signal from him. it is 1 bar weak signal i have already went through the router settings to get some more power out of it and it didnt help much. i was cleaning the inside of my laptop today Dell lattitude d620 and i saw the 2 wires comming off the wireless piece inside the computer so i made a little slit out the back so i could feed them through. 1 wire is white with a black line down the side the other is black with a white line at the ends of both is a copper head of some sort wich had a little plastic glove over it. now my question is to amplify my signal what would be best? copper bowl put it to the backside? does the metal matter? what is best?

First metal matters.
Second, if you'd like to amplify your wireless power, what's about the signal of the router.
If the routers signal is weak, you have to amplify the routers signal.
And that's the first thing, I suggest to do.
You can simply put a self-made parabolic antenna onto the routers antenna and justify it to the right direction.
That's what I've done and it works.
Here is a link to such self-made parabolic antenna.
