Well, i got a Linksys Wireless Access point http://www.linksys.com/Products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=415
and I hooked it up to my desktop, ME with a wired connection to port 1 on the router, my old labtop running 98 (also wired), and my new labtop running off a pcmcia wireless connection. I got my DSL routed to these comuters without a problem, but I cannot seem to get them to network together! Most of the time I will get the error "Unable to browse the network" (some of the time, they can access the network, go to my workgroup, and see themself+the other two computers, but cannot access them). They are being networked by TCP/IP, as im pretty sure the router only uses that protocol (ive tried netBEUI and ipx to no avail. thanks in advance!

Please note that Intel(R) Centrino(TM) Mobile Technology will work with any wireless access point or router compliant under the IEEE 802.11b standard. However please take the following recommendations into consideration. First of all please check that IEEE 802.1x from Windows* XP is disabled. To disable it please click on Start and then Control Panel. Click on "Network an Internet Connections" and then click "Network Connections". Right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" and click on Properties. In the Authentication tab UNCHECK the box that says "Enable network access control using IEEE 802.1X".

Also note that you can try the following steps. Click on Start and then Control Panel. Next open Add/Remove Programs and check if you have WPA Patch (Q815485) installed which is an update done automatically by Windows* XP. If the file is present on the computer please uninstall it.

Additionally Netgear* has a firmware update version 5.01 with the fix for the loss of connection with an Intel(R) Centrino(TM) Mobile Technology notebook. Please visit their web site and check for an updated firmware for your router.

Finally, you can click on Start and then Control Panel. Next open the System icon, select the Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button. Once in the Device Manager, please click on the plus sign next to Network Adapters. Then right click on the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2100 LAN MiniPCI Adapter and select the Properties option. Click on the Advanced tab and select the Power Management option. Please uncheck the Use default value checkbox and set the bar to highest.

If you continue to experience difficulties, please reply and we will try to assist you further.

Sincerely,

Rudy B.

File Sharing...

I have a IBM NetVista A40i and IBM ThinkPad R40 2722-GCU Centrino Notebook with a 802.11b Mini PCI wireless adapter. I wanted to be able to access my DSL connection independently by each of my PC. Therefore, i bought a Netgear MR814v2 wireless internet router.
The second link was very usefull to set up my file sharing between my two PC, but still need to share my HP LaserJet 2100 printer that is connected by a UBS-parallel adapter from Belkin to my NetVista.

no, the browse master did not work, i have tried almost every configuration on my three computers. Also, i did not mention that my "new" labtop is also running ME, and does not have a centrino processor. Now, i had the two ME computers networked together sharing files, printers, internet, ect. using my modem, a westell dual connect (the "new" labtop was using a USB connection, and the desktop was using ethernet). Because I did not want to be hanpered by the USB cable length, I decided to go wireless. Thanks for any tips in advance!

Went through all steps from Rudy B.
Intel(R) Technical Support, and that did not work. My problem comes when more than one wireless device is connecting to netgear wireless router. If only one is one, all is well. When the second exact IBM thinkpad r40 tries to connect, both machines lose connection. Then neither one can connect. Then go back out and look for the wireless SSID, and the wireless radio is off, would you like to turn it back on - YES - still nothing. Dont know what else to do.
