I have a wired LAN in my home, works well, using a Belkin wireless/wired router.

The other day I noticed that my Laptop, when connected (wired) and in use also had its wireless connection switched on.

Now, this did not seem to cause any sort of problem but I was wondering if it had any beneficial effect?

John

It's not that I can't remember things as I get older, it's just that my hard drive's full.

None at all. The computer will only ever use one of the network connections and ignore the other. It will use the first one it finds which will generally be the wired one.

If you are not using the wireless disable it in the router. Unless it has been set of and configured correctly it could be a target for hackers to get into you computer.
