I have a win98 pc and a winXP pc , now , both computers are connected to each other and when I try to establish a LAN connection from WinXP to win98 there are no problems and the connection works , the problem is that both computers can't see each other and also can't ping each other , they can ping them selves though , please help , ( just don't give me links or something :) )

if you still need help read this.
depending on most things you should only have the tcp/ip protocol enabled and is this a peer-peer network, tell me the tcp/ip settings eg. ip and gateway thats about it

ip : 192.168.0.2
subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
gateway none
wins : disabled
bindings : client for microsoft networks , file and print sharing.
DNS : disabledWinXP :
ip : 192.68.0.1
subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
gateway none
wins : disabled :
bindings : file and print sharing , client for microsoft networks
DNS : disabled

Xen,
make sure you don't have a firewall interfering on either machine. Either disable or set to allow all traffic while testing.
Failing that, make sure that you create on your Xp and win98 machines a user and password identical on both machines. However latter will not stop the ping operation, just logon ability.
