I am swapping out a pc and Im having trouble connecting to my win 2003 server ( I did not setup the server) . I was trying to change the pc name and add the same dns info as the old pc but I get an error stating the domain controller could not be found. I can ping the server and the server can ping the pc. Any thoughts would be appreciated

It sounds like you're trying to make the new PC into the old one.............is this correct?

If yes, why?

I don't understand why you would do that when it would be so much simpler to just add the new PC, as a new PC, to AD.
