Comment:

Networked pc lost power and now cannot see the lan. Network neighborhood sees the pc but nothing else.. IP is obtained via dhcp automatically but this appears to be the problem. In winipcfg the current (wrong) address will not 'release' and subsequently the 'renew' will not work.
Have rechecked all settings and all appear to be ok. Removed the Linksys nic card and reinstalled it and drivers (also tried a different card) No. go.
Running Win 98se and LAN consists of 4 other pc's to a linksys router to cable modem. All other pc's work fine.
Any help out there???

90% sure it's a cabling/NIC issue.
