I'm trying to connect 2 machines... 1 Windows XP Home, 1 Windows XP Pro via the router... the internet is up on both machines, but file sharing is not enabled. The Windows XP Pro machine can see the other machine, but gets a "Network path not found" while the Home machine cannot see them. They are both part of the same workground. Any ideas?

your xp home isn't going to see your pro computer because more than likely your xp home is FAT32 and XP pro is NTFS. also try mapping the path to the xp home computer from the pro computer

As Bill said you'll need to make sure that file and printer sharing is enabled. Then make sure that XP's builtin firewall is disabled. Since you're using a router to share an internet connection, DNS name resolution will be difficult so install the IPX/SPX protocol on both machines.
In order to access files on the machines you'll also need matching user accounts on both machines (USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS MUST MATCH). From there it should be all downhill sailing.
BTW......Steve, the file system used on the computers makes no difference. The operating systems handle file shares not the disk drives.

Thanks for the reply... it's getting stranger... for one, the Home version won't ping the Pro... while the Pro can ping & see the Home version... (so I know it's connected)... any ideas?
