windows vista online slowing

Specs: Windows Vista
I have updated drivers or roll them back. Under computer, I right clicked on computer, then it shows like of hardware. Then I looked at date on driver and tried to update past june 27, 2006 or to roll many back . This increased my online speed but I could not get all drivers past that 2006 date & year, my computer thinks its the most updated version. It is not. This inability to change them or update still causes windows vista to be slower while operating. I guess I could buy the fix offered on web but I feel I shouldn't have to when I know the problem that microsolft built in. To bad microsoft isn't forth coming with an answer.

your computer has no effect on internet speed. The only thing that would effect it would be the NIC and I promise you that your NIC is faster then your internet.

Mostly likely what is happening is that your computer has so many stuff running, it is slowing the system down. Having a virus can also cause this as well.

I've had major problems with Vista being unstable personally. I would run a virus scan and run an msconfig (Start, Run, Type in "msconfig") to free the system up from having to load a lot of applications at once.

What Browser are you using? You say rolling back/updated drivers and it increased your internet speed, but how are you determining this?

There are a lot of variables that could be causing this, but I promise you windows 7 is not changing your internet speed, the system may just be overloaded from a bunch of applications.

I use windows vista 32 bit with internet exployer 9. Have used google chrome but improvement is slight and it slows quickly. I have reset Network Adapter: Atheros AR5007EG driversfrom stuck at year 2006 to now 2009 & Realtek RTL8139/810x family fast Ethernet NIC to 2010.

And before you ask< YES, the Network Adapter drivers in all computers can slow the speed of the computer. Do you remember Y2K scare right before the year 2000? Well, for those who brought after that year (like me in 2005) it max's at year june 27, 2006. This was just 1 reasons computers become slow and NO, I do not have a virus. I have the very best (paid for) virus checkers, cleaners, and fire wall.

I promise you your network adapter is faster than your internet no matter what your drivers are being used.

You are still not telling me how you are telling me your internet speed is being calculated to determine that it is being slowed. This tells me that your computer is slowing down because of your OS.

Network adapters have a speed of 100mbps to 1gbps. I don't think your internet is even close to being that fast.

Vista is known for being unstable. This is what could be slowing your system. I would upgrade to 7.

Your drivers are probably unstable from the OS.

As for the y2k, that was caused because of a worry computers wouldn't understand the year 2000 in their code. when the date changed to 2000, their was a worry computers wouldn't change to 2000 and either crash, or change to the wrong date. I don't quite understand how you feel your drivers designed years later effects anything?
