Hi

I downloaded the DLink driver update (DWL-650+) from windowsupdate.com and now my wireless adapter does not work at all.

There does not seem to be a unistall for the driver update, at least not one that i can find (heaps of windows hotfixes but i wouldnt know which one to remove).

I have tried unistalling and reinstalling from the CD but i still have no success. Up until now i have always had consistently strong connections and it has been great.

Help me please, I cannot go back to dialup after having had broadband.

A few things to check.
the update may have reloaded the computers default name.
your workgroup may have changed (if you have something other than MSHOME)
Best thing to do is try to repair the connection using properties status of your wireless connection.

Another thing to check would be WEP encription, if you have in enabled or disabled, which one is it on the router and the PC.

Also if your connection is shown in the MAC Bridge section of Network connections disconnect the MAC Bridge as the Wireless connection should show up in your LAN section.

Hope this helps or gets you going in the right direction, it is usually the simplest thing that gets overlooked that creates these types of problems.

I also got molested by the windows update. Try to uninstall the NIC from device manager and remove the dlink software. Restart. Then do a file search for: airplus.bin, airplus.sys, tiacxln.inf, tiacxln.pnf, oem0.inf, oem0.pnf. Delete those files. Also check in <systemroot>\system32\drivers. Look for and delete any files similar to airplus or aplus or any similar deviation. Then try to reinstall. I installed from the cd-rom. That still didn’t work me. I then download driver version 2.2b. That driver worked for me. Good luck.
