Hi, I have a dual boot with Windows XP SP2 and Windows 98 SE. I am using a netgear dg834g wireless router and a wg111v2 wireless usb adapter. Windows XP wirlessly connects to the internet great but Windows 98 SE does not. I have used the same TCP/IP settings under Windows 98 but Internet explorer does not find anything. Nor does it ping the router at 192.168.0.1 I have tried changing to a different IP address than WinXP uses and also used DHCP but it makes no difference. Even though the MAC address is used under XP it shouldn't affect while i use Win98 for the internet. The Wireless adapter signal strength is very high like XP so its operating ok and when i boot into XP the internet works without any problems.

do you have any other protocols loaded in 98 besides tcp/ip? If so remove them. you couldn't set protocol binding order in 98 so it may be using another as primary to talk on.

Hi,
I removed Dial Up networking adapter 1 and Dial Up Networking adapter 2 and also an NDIS Microsoft Virtual Networking Adapter, rebooted and broadband is now running under Windows 98. Excellent! Your help is much appreciated wanderer! Thanks again.

Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for posting the update.
