I run a windows network that I use to share a 56k internet connection. The 56k modem is in the windows 98 machine, since i could not get windows nt server 4 to recognize said modem. the internet connection is almost exactly the same as if i had the modem in my pc, but file sharing is a nightmare! i can browse directories on either machine (both with tcp/ip as the default protocol, and both with ms file sharing, and both with netbios; the xp machine has ipx as well. I can see what's being shared on both machines, as i said, but I cannot actually copy files or directories. i can see all the contents of any shared dir or subdir, and the file properties, but they will not copy from xp to 98; they time out after a few minutes after only transferring a few kilobytes. Also, when I was running a web server on the xp machine, the directory page was working fine, but i couldn't save any of the files to my computer. thanks in advance for any help.

p.s. - i should probably also note that the last time i was at a LAN party, and had a lot of xp machines sharing files, they couldn't access my files until i gave recursive read-permission on the hd to "everyone".
