I think I posted this same question in the wrong forum earlier...sorry for the repeat.

I'm need to set up Win98se with ICS to share a satellite Inet connection (StarBand) with an XP and Macintosh. The sat modem cannot be plugged into a router directly, unfortunately.

Win98se ICS creates a little client app disk that is supposed to be installed on the other computers on the network. Does this client app need to be installed on XP (since it has a more sophisticated OS)....and what about the Mac notebook (the Mac is about a year old, btw).

The Win98se will be plugged into a switch/router (with the DHCP server disabled).

-THANKS

Using WinXP Help I was led to the following MS Article:
"How to Use a Macintosh Computer with Internet Connection Sharing"

The article explains how to connect Win98SE and a MAC.

I know that in order to share between Win98 and WinXP you must have installed ICS from the WinXP CD onto both Win98 and WinXP. I would suggest doing this before attempting to connect the MAC.

You don't actually need to install anything on any client computer to use it as an ICS client. In most cases, all you have to do is set up the client computer to use DHCP. This is all that client disk really does - make the necessary TCP/IP configuration settings for you on the client computers. You can easily do this manually, so you don't really need the client disk.

This is true for windows and mac.
