win98 install can't connect to net

Specs: win98, 533
can't connect to the net with win98,,clean install...sys was runnin xp and working fine...formatted the drive and did install..all fine except connecting, comcast kids r do young to navigate it, says they don't support win98..but someone must be surfing with guys/girls..and I don't mean dial-up..

First have you installed drivers for motherboard and network card?

Why are you wanting to use 98?

You really don't want to do that. Your PC will be continually screwed up.

Win98 on a broadband connection will be nothing but trouble.

If that's all you got...for some reason....go Linux.

98 on broadband is fine. Behind a router and AntiVirus is all you need. I used it for nearly 10 years.

this generis desttop had a dell hd(40Gigs) and an HP motherboard..factory installed win xp...a few minor tweeks and even though dell hd/wins os wouldn't let me run or install dell drivers to the mother..I didn't need was workin fine...just 'cause I got my At cert in 2000 with 98 it is familiar to me..but I don't have an xp cd..and I formatted the drive before I could dl any drivers I would device mngr my others cat is exclamationed for the audio/ pci/ ethernet/ even won't recon my usb port..if I get the usb support for the motherboard to my flash I might get the drivers..but can't get usb recon..have my ethernet cable plug into motherbd and it has a green light...might have to get a copy of xp somewhere and go back uh..?
