Win7: Where to enter wireless network key?

January 27, 2011 at 17:32:33
Specs: Windows 7, 4 gigabytes?
On a brand new computer with Windows 7, & new Linksys E2000 router that worked great unsecured, with SSID still broadcast (and computer detects it), the OS never offers a place to enter the network key. There seems to be no place to enter the appropriate key! Help?

Did you configure they network key in the router?

Until you configure the wireless in the router then you won't get prompted to enter something that doesn't exist.

Yes, StuartS, of course I entered the pre-shared WPA key into the router, after first verifying that the router worked as an unsecured device, with SSID broadcast on. Communication and Internet access was good (if I dare call UNsecured wireless "good"), but after the securing by entering the pre-shaped WPA key into the router (with SSID still on), the Windows-7 based laptop computer detected the SSID (and displayed the SSID name), along with a bar graph indicating very high signal strength. But I didn't find anywhere that I could enter the same pre-shared key into the (wireless) laptop!
