Comment: I am at my wits end. I have been networking win xp to win 98 for quite a while so I familier with the usually snags but the problem has got me baffled. I am running a 100/1000 base wired network between 3 computers. 1 is XP pro, the others are both 98se.(I'll call them win 981 and win 982 for convienience)As for hardware I am running VIA Rhine III Fast Ethernet Adapters on all three machines and they are connected through a netgear MR814v2 router with no internet connection. All the hardware has been tested with other computers and has worked fine. All computers are running with Netbios over TCP/IP enabled as well as over IPX/SPX. There are no firewalls installed on any computer and the XP Pro is SP1. Now the problems: The XP pro machine can see and access all computers, share files printers etc. The win 981 can see and access all computers as well. The win 982 cannot see anything, including it's self. When running games such as bf1942 the win xp pro cannot see local games hosted on any other computer but can direct connect with proper ip. The win 981 cannot see games hosted on the win XP pro under local but can also direct connect. The win 982 cannot see or connect to anything but gets pings off the router and the win 981 but not the winXP pro. If anyone can help I would apreciate it greatly. I will check back daily with any extra info needed. *also I am sure the the drivers for the cards are correct.* Thanks Ducktape doesn't stick well to software.

Reply: (edit)minute I saw tcp/ip and ipx I have a good idea what the issue is. Use ONLY one protocol, tcp/ip on the 98 machine. 98 can't order bindings correctly. In other words 98 could have ipx as the primary protocol whereas the rest have ip. THEY WONT talk right. Personally I would only do tcp/ip. Golly gee wilerkers everyone. Learn to Internet Search

Reply: (edit)OK I will try as soon as possible. Also having another issue now. Iw Win XP cannot be accessed by anything but can accces other computers by direct IP. All others seem to run into some sort of security issue. They cannot even ping the XP computer. Ducktape doesn't stick well to software.

Reply: (edit)OK, I tried removing the IPX protocols but still the problems persist. thw win 98's can see each other and the xp but when I try to click on the xp computer in the entire network it replies that the computer or sharename could not be found but how could it not be found if the computer displays the xp computer? Also the XP computer refuses to see anything including it's own shared files. This worked fine not 2 weeks ago and now eveything seesm to be going bad. Ducktape doesn't stick well to software.
