win xp pro unable to join domain

This problem is driving me mad for many days. I have one server 2003 and workstations running win xp pro. i was unable to join win server 2003 domain form win pro. my server can ping win pro, but win pro can not ping server's IP, but i can use remote desktop connection to connect server form win pro. i turned off all firewall and i am very sure i typed correct domain name. dose someone can help me? Thank you so much.
