I have 2 computers that I want to network - called upstairs and downstairs. they both have wireless PCI cards and receive a signal from a belkin wireless router. Both connect to the internet fine. The upstairs computer is set up as for internet connection sharing (i.e., it has a little
hand under its icon (like it's shared) when you right click the Network connections in the taskbar and goto properties
I ran the network wizard on both of them, and assigned them to the same workgroup. I made one folder on each computer shared. When I click "view workgroup computers" on downstairs, I can see downstairs and upstairs. When I click on upstairs, I see an error message that says 'upstairs is not accessible. You might not have permission to view this network resource... Network path not foound."
I try to ping upstairs (it's IP is 192.168.2.5) and I can't do it.
When I go upstairs and click "view workgroup computers", I can't see downstairs, but I CAN ping it (it's IP is 192.168.2.20)
I figure I am almost there, but why can't I get there?? any help is appreciated.

Thank you. Disabling the win XP firewall did it. I am now able to share files.

You can probably reenable the firewall if you set it to "Connect to the Internet through a router" in the setup wizard. If not you're probably OK because the router has a built-in firewall.

If you ever do want to put firewalls on your PCs what you do is set up the firewall to recognize IP range 192.168.0.1 through 192.168.255.255 as "local" or "trusted". The XP firewall does this through a radio button setup so you don't see what's going on behind the scenes.
