Win 2000 installation problem

Comment:
When booting with WIN 2000 for the first time after installation, the system hangs. It presents me with a blue screen, and fails to fully load WIN 2000.
Could you please explain the steps needed to troubleshoot this problem, and mention the utilities available to help me. Also, could you please tell me why and ERD would not help me in this instance?

hi.... u didn,t mention the error on ble screen ... most probably there is some device conflict in ur pc try installing win98 first see if it is working else do a hardware diagnostic...there may be a possibility of a bootsector virus in ur PC. make sure that the source from where u r installin O.S is virus free. try to do a FDISK using DOS.ERD can only be used incase of a fully working system goes down.

All blue screen problems in Win2K are related to device driver problems. Try going into safe mode and have a look at Device Manager. If you are using a RAID/UDMA motherboard did you hit the function key in the beginning of the install to specify additional drivers?
