i have two networking problems. first, a system with windows 2000 pro and a system with xp pro will not see eachother even though the workgroup, protocals, etc. are all as they should be. second, the one with xp pro, although it connects to the 802.11g wirless network well at first, after a few minutes it disconnts itself and will not reconnect. however, if i restart the system it connects again, but does the same thing after a while. any ideas?

Make sure that if you have firewalls running on the PCs they are configured to allow access to one another. Regarding your disconnect problem, it could be the wireless network card in that PC. I installed a wireless card in my daughter's PC. Since the wireless access point I installed is a D-Link, I figured it would be best to stick with the same name brand for the network card. I was wrong ... the D-Link wireless card would drop connections all the time. I returned the D-Link and replaced it with a Linksys card, and have had much better success.

Are all the machines set for DHCP? Try running IPCONFIG from each machine and post here. On the disconnect, check the signal strenth the machine is receiving. Some are better at connecting initially but when they lose strength seem to permanntly disconnect. Also realize there are a number of devices that can interferre.
