My laptop's wifi seems to be running fine and it connects to my home wireless network but when i open IE 7, or Firefox, i cannot access the internet. I have both network and internet connectivity icons in the task bar with no exclamation marks. Can anyone help figure out why its not connecting to the net? firewall is off too. thanks.

At the very least there is something wrong with name resolution as www.yahoo.com cannot be resolved. In a browser try http://209.131.36.158 if it loads the yahoo website then you only have name resolution problems...have you set a valid DNS server address on your router? If you cannot get to the yahoo website with the IP address then you have other additional problems, firewall maybe?

When using a router with modem, or with just a modem you should always ask your isp what settings to use to connect to their server. This is very important, because otherwise you won't be able to access the internet.
