Two things to try:

1) On your router, in the router configuration utility, choose a different wireless channel.
The best channels are usually 1 or 6 or 12.

if that makes no difference, try this:

2) Reboot your router by unplugging it from power supply, then plug it back in. Wait until all it's lights stop flashing before trying to use it.

I have another HP laptop with intel i5 2.4GHz processor. But the wifi signal strength in this laptop shows EXCELLENT.

Only HP with AMD processor laptop has problem. I think some thing is wrong in that laptop. Internet is very slow.

Both the laptops share the same wifi router.

Is there a way to trouble shoot this?

Slow WiFi means you have to check your wireless network connection first of all. You also have to check what security/firewall software do you have running? Try disabling it first and then again enabling it using a different browser. Also clear your cookies from time to time.. As HP laptop is a wonderful one so I guess you should check all these requirements as well as configure modem connection appropriately..
I hope it will definitely make your laptop speedy

If the signal strength is excellent on one machine and not another. You just need to configure the internet connection on the slow machine. You can try the following.
1.Clearing the Cache
2. Port Blocking
3. DNS server settings
4. Check for Viruses
5. Or its just a hardware issue
