I'm relatively new to wireless networking so here goes.

I've setup my fiancé's household, 4 pc's, 3 wired, 1 wireless to a Linksys wrt54g router.

I've been trying to enable WPA-PSK to secure the wi-fi connection...I've downloaded the firmware updates for the router. The wi-fi adapter is a D-link DWL-G520.

Once WPA-PSK is enabled, I enter a key of ********** and set the renewal period to 3600...I'm using AES btw.

On the other end, I've unchecked the option to "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings" and used the D-link config tool to set the WPA-PSK and SSID settings.

In short, EVERYTHING works fine. WPS-PSK is enabled, I can connect to the web, things seem secure.

The problem happens when I restart the machine. Once re-started, the adapter does not remember the Key. So I have to go into the adapter config and retype the key. Then it connects.

Is this normal? If it is, does WEP have this issue? Or is it because I'm using AES instead of TKIP? Thanks!

sw.
