I have a pavillion laptop thays a year old and it has wifi. I cant get it to communicate with any other computers nor can i get the built in bluetooth to read any other computers. I have a palm pre and I have bought third party software that enables my laptop to communicate with the palm pre via wi fi. my pavillion doesnt recognize my palm pre or my fujitsu lifebook via wi fi. how can I get this lap top to start comunicating via wi fi.

Blue tooth is for keyboards and mice.
Wireless nic is for networking. Let's make sure we are talking about the right devices.

I do know the difference between bluetooth and WifI, I also have another wi fi equipped laptop and this pavilion wont communicate with it either. I m trying to use A Third party software which will transfer data via wi fi to my palm pre phone but it wont communicate, i hope someone can give me some info to correct this problem.

Some laptops have a small switch that controls the wireless antenna. All will look OK in devicemanager but you will not be able to connect until the switch is used.
You have looked in devicemanager to check your wireless NIC ?Goin' Fishin' (Some day)

I m aware of the switch and thats not it either. I tried to set up a network and the pavilion wont communicate with anything.
