October 28, 2010 at 18:06:00
Specs: Windows vista
I installed an antivirus and a trojan remover. Then found my computer would not connect. Ran the diagnosis that said there is no problem. I uninstalled the two new programs, still can't connect. What have I done? I even restored the computer to an earlier tome when the internet worked- nothing ! HELP

Which antivirus and trojan remover have you installed?
Some of them needs to be uninstalled by using a special removing tool, like software from Symantec (Norton).

The original poster should always write the last response !!!

open up internet explorer (even if it says page cannot be displayed) look for the "tools" menu and click it, then "connections tab". then at the bottom, click "lan settings" make sure "use a proxy..." is not checked. If it is uncheck it. Then close the browser. Reopen the browser and try it. If there is no fake proxy set.... Navigate from the start menu to Network, then Netwok and sharing centre. Upper left click on manage connections....right click on your lan or wlan adapter whichever you are using......click properties and then cick on tcp/ip v4 and tcp/ip v6 properties and makes sure they are set to "obtain ip address automaticall" and below make sure it is set to "obtain a dns automatically". Hope this helps
