Why is my ping so darn bad?

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a Verizon Wireless USB720 aircard hooked up to my desktop (because I live out of the city limits), and it used to work very well. I would go to massively online games and my ping was 60-100. And now all of the sudden it shot up sky high to 1000. Yes, ONE THOUSAND. I have TeamSpeak (it's a program that allows you to talk with your own voice to other people. It's very useful for online communities.) and it too shows my ping as 1000. This used to be good internet could still only hold about 1 or 2 continually online program but I wasn't complaining. How did this very reliable system turn to a horrible service? And also the aircard keeps shutting down when it is idle for more than 30 minutes. It didn't used to do that!?

And also it is going to take 10 seconds for this post to get up on the fourms <:O .

Well, as a rule of thumb, when a piece of hardware that was known to be working fine starts acting funny on me, I assume it's the hardware and begin my troubleshooting from there.

While I may be wrong, it looks to me like your aircard may be having some issues. I don't know much about them myself but if I had one that suddenly started acting flakey, I'd call my provider and ask their support people questions.
